PINEY GROVE FREE WILL BAPTIST CHURCH
Church org. in 1882. Trustees purchased this lot at Vance and Elba Sts. in 1900 from Samuel and Annie Vick. Wooden building with 2-story tower constructed. Moved to present Vick St. location in 1930s; building later renovated.

Ah a memory: Penny Rallies at Piney Grove… music would play and we would march around inside the church and drop a penny in a basket each time we completed the circuit. We loved to have a lot of pennies so we could march as long as the music played. The Church was near grandparents Oscar and Mamie Ellis at 918 Washington St.
