The suit Dr. Boisey O. Barnes and Dr. Darcey C. Yancey filed eventually led to the construction of a new elementary school in East Wilson. Barnes died in 1956, and the school was named in his honor.
Convention of colored doctors.
Pharmacist Darcy C. Yancy, physician William A. Mitchner, and businessman Samuel H. Vick welcomed a convention of African-American doctors, which opened at First Baptist church in June 1921. Dr. Frank S. Hargrave acted as master of ceremonies.
