James Byrd died 24 March 1948 in Wilson, North Carolina. Per his death certificate, he was born 12 December 1899 in Fairmont, North Carolina, to Lucy Hargrove, Henderson, N.C.; was married to Lucy Byrd; and worked as a day laborer for Mother & Daughter Store. Ida Weaver, 201 Pender Street, was informant.
