Daniel C. Suggs was vice-president of Georgia Industrial School for Colored Youth and a member of its first faculty, teaching natural sciences. The school was the precursor of today’s Savannah State University.

Wilson newspapers loved them some Daniel C. Suggs. Just younger than Samuel H. Vick, Frank Blount, Braswell R. Winstead, and Alfred Robinson, Suggs was born just after slavery, but graduated college and assumed careers in business and politics.
