News & Observer (Raleigh, N.C.), 7 April 1943.
Raleigh’s major newspaper followed up on the sentence levied on James Parker, who refused to move to the back of a Wilson bus twelve years before Rosa Parks. All things considered, Parker’s punishment was surprisingly light — perhaps, none yet perceived a real threat to the Jim Crow system.

SPOILER ALERT: UNFORTUNATELY, 82 years ain’t a long time ago !!!
Maybe in another 82 years, the coals will have smothered out completely,
The likelihood is that none of us reading this won’t be around then, but , at the very least , let’s touch and agree, while we are here, that this stench of human indignity shall pass away (well before another 82 years) from man or woman or child ….of any human kind.
