A few weeks ago, I rode down to Clayton County to attend a George Archives Lunch & Learn lecture. Stephanie Calabrese spoke about the journey that led to her documentary film Unspoken. I don’t have filmmaking aspirations, but I came away from hearing Calabrese outline her creative process feeling educated and inspired. That local history matters, and fundamentally so, is what drives Black Wide-Awake, and I thank all on the path with me to understand the historic whos, whats, and whys of our community.
