My parents and so many other Afr. American couples from Wilson , as told by my mom , chose Dillion, S. C.
I’ve often wondered why they had to go to another state (SC) to get married.
Dillon is right across the state line, and SC allowed people to marry as young as 14 and with no other prerequisites or waiting requirements to get a license. The town was once known as the Wedding Capital of the East. 🙂
