In March 1912, clerk of court Theo. A. Hinnant recorded evidence in State vs. Will Evans, a case alleging robbery. 

S.L. Long swore that Evans had come into his store with a woman to buy eggs, then returned for beer and crackers but refused to pay his bill. When Long insisted, Evans allegedly grabbed him, threw him out onto the sidewalk, and took Long’s wallet.
