On 21 September 1893, John W. Rodgers, 25, of the Town of Wilson, married Annie H. Blake, 21, at the Baptist Church in Wilson. B.R. Winstead applied for the license, and Presbyterian minister L.J. Melton performed the ceremony in the presence of David Pyatt, C.H. Bynum, and S.H. Vick.
