I do not know the artist who created this potent image. The quote is from Kundera’s The Book of Laughter and Forgetting. Both speak powerfully to the purpose of Black Wide-Awake.
You have “HIT” upon our biggest struggles and nightmare for our culture and history right there!! I was thinking recently, why do we act the way we do sometimes in a lot of given situations?? I think we have “FORGOTTEN”!! We have lost our identities, sense of selves, and became ignorant of what we could have been. Too many times when I have sat back and watched “US” destroy so much of ourselves…. Due to losing ” our we have lost our minds.” There is an artist I have seen on X I want to introduce you to. Her work is definitely an attentin getter!! As usual, thank you Lisa, this exactly what we need to start reversing here.

Apologies. After the word losing in the 5th sentence, “ourselves”, should have been part of the verbiage. Thank you.
The artist is Alex Nabaum. You can see more amazing work here: https://homegrown.co.in/homegrown-creators/visual-duality-portrays-serious-social-issues-in-these-alex-nabaum-illustrations
Thank you so much! Failure to attribute is another insidious form of forgetting!
