In the 1940 census of Wilson, Wilson County: at 209 Narroway Street, oil mill and factory laborer John McNeil, 32; wife Sallie, 29; sons Samie, 15, and John Jr., 3; and roomer John T. Snow, 18, delivery boy.

John and Sallie were the best. They lived at the end of our street. Every summer, they sold the popsicles made in Dixie cups. I think they were 10 cents! I can’t remember which one, but either their son John or Robert lived on the other end of the street and I played with the grandkids.
