On 24 March 1922, the Daily Times published a column by James Dempsey Bullock, “Know Your Town,” outlining a casual history of Wilson. It contained this snippet about the first hangings after the formation of Wilson County in 1855. From context, John Henry Ross was hanged circa 1902. I have not been able to find more about George, the enslaved man who allegedly killed an unknown master.
