In my father’s memory, I’ve been raising money for Our Wilson Mentoring, a grassroots mentoring and change-making organization in our hometown. Our Wilson’s mission connects with my dad’s legacy in so many ways — service, community empowerment, youth development — and contributions will support projects like paying swimming pool fees, conflict resolution training, and workforce preparation. In turn, Our Wilson is putting its new lawn care division to work caring for Odd Fellows Cemetery during Lane Street Project’s off-season. This kind of multigenerational collaboration is at the very heart of Lane Street Project’s work to protect our sacred spaces. My thanks to Donta Chestnut and Castonoble Hooks, whose deep love and shared concern for community is seeding revolution.
