Wilson Daily Times, 9 March 1935.
——
In the 1930 census of Wilson, Wilson County: widow Janie Cameron, 52; sons Lonzo, 21, oil mill laborer, Eugene, 15, market delivery boy, and James, 11; and roomers Phillipp Gaskin, 38, and Amos Singleterry, 22, both truck drivers. All were born in South Carolina except Lonzo and Eugene, who were Georgia-born.
I’ve got to wonder if the writer of the article meant Mt. Carmel-Goldsboro highway, the present day Mt. Carmel Church Rd. Running roughly parallel to Hwy. 117. And the Goldsboro city hospital was where I first saw the light of day some 26 years after this incident.
I suspect your guess is correct!
