“Plantation” was the term commonly used for very large farms growing cash crops like cotton and tobacco. (Still is, but generally to describe crops like coffee, tea, sisal, etc., not generally grown in the US.)

Absolutely. (Which, I suspect, it’s seldom used in the US to describe large cash-crop farms.)
