Why was the academic year delayed for all Wilson’s “negro schools” in the fall of 1937?
Could it be cause they had to get the bulk of the farming done. My mother said that they always started school about one week late.
She was born 1928
That’s a reason for children to start late, but not for schools to delay the school year. Also, that was not unique to 1937.
