Other suns: Washington, D.C.

New York City may have been the Number One destination for North Carolinians during the Great Migration, but Washington, D.C., surely was second, especially after the Great Depression.

  1. Hello…I see that Nathan Porter Haskins is on this list. I believe that he is my Grandmother’s Father. Her name was Marie C. Haskins. She married Elijah Warren. They had 4 Sons, Jerome, Joseph, O’Donnell, and William. My Father is O’Donnell Warren. They are from Wilson, NC and migrated to Washington, D.C. I don’t remember my Grandfather Elijah, but my Grandmother lived in the Georgetown part of D.C. and owned a beauty salon. I have a bible from my Father listing some Haskins name including my Grandmother.
I subscribed to this website and I requested you on Instagram.
    Thank you,

  2. Hi Lisa…You’re welcome…On further review of the Bible, it looks like Nathan Haskins was my Grandmother Marie’s brother. I just emailed you. Thank you
