Wilson Daily Times, 29 January 1924.
Dr. Frank S. Hargrave did not take a position at Tuskegee Veterans’ Hospital, but he left Wilson in 1924 nonetheless, migrating to Orange, New Jersey. Who got the job, then? Dr. Joseph H. Ward of Indianapolis, who was a Wilson native.
Very interesting about Dr. Ward! And I am sure he had a letter of reference from Sam Vick . . . wow.
It would be interesting to find evidence of a connection. Ward was certainly known in his hometown, but likely only after he made a name for himself in Indianapolis. He left Wilson as a poor, unlettered teenager around the time Vick became principal of the graded school.
